H Tippmann ανακοίνωσε ότι βάζει τέλος στην παραγωγή του κλασικού X7. Κύριος λόγος είναι η κυκλοφορία του X7 Phenom και ειδικότερα του νέου X7 Phenom mechanical, το οποίο σύμφωνα με την tippmann ήρθε να καλύψει το κενό που υπήρχε ανάμεσα στο κλασικό X7 και το X7 Phenom. Από την μεριά της η Tippman Parts, ανακοίνωσε ότι θα διαθέτει για αρκετό καιρό ακόμα στοκ ανταλλακτικών για το κλασικό X7. Ακολουθεί αυτούσιο το κείμενο της ανακοίνωσης από την Tippmann, όπως αυτό δημοσιεύτηκε στο facebook group της:
“When we initially launched the X7 Phenom, our goal was to make it easy for X7 players to upgrade to the X7 Phenom since it was designed to fit over 20 of the existing X7 mods. With the addition of the X7 Phenom …mechanical at the old X7 price and the new X7 magazines that complete the looks of the M16, AK-47 and G36, Tippmann has decided to stop manufacturing the original X7. With the similarities between the two designs and the enhanced performance of the new X7 Phenom at virtually the same price, we feel the move to phase out the X7 will be well accepted by most players.”
